Samsung Galaxy S3 hits the FCC
May 15th

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S3 is just another step closer to making its way to North America as it hit the FCC this morning. This device supports AT&T’s HSPA+ radios, but will not work on T-Mobile’s as those users would likely be stuck on Edge. Couple in in the fact that LTE is absent and we’d say this one is going to be headed straight for the great white north.
Of course, no North American carriers have announced plans to carry the device but we’re alright with assuming some will in due time. In the meantime, if Samsung wanted to sell the Galaxy S3 in North America right now, they very well could. That’s worth something, right? [via Engadget]

Stick It! Sorry Samsung, your Pop-up Play is not ground breaking we are already doing it
May 14th
Wah Wah Wah… Samsung your already un-impressive performance at the “Next Galaxy” event earlier this month has been proved even less impressive.
If you are unsure of what i’m referring to, last week Samsung introduced their latest super phone the Galaxy SIII and showcased many of it’s “ground breaking” new features. Well these new features, in my opinion, were less than ground breaking software addons. One of these was the “pop-up play” which allowed the user to take a youtube video and break it apart into smaller, movable window for better multi-tasking. Kind of like the screenshots below.

Protip for Samsung: Look both ways before you cross the street.

Well what happens when an already available app gets showcased at a major press event? Sales go up 600%!!!

More details below, but if you’re already wanting to shove it in Samsung’s face head over to the Google Play Store and grab Stick It! for .49
You might be surprised to know, however, that an almost identical app is already on sale on the Google Play store, and it works on any recent Android phone. It’s called Stick It!, and the developer behind it has seen a staggering sevenfold sales boost since the announcement last week.
It may not be baked into the OS, but for £1.19, Stick It! does a remarkable job of emulating Pop-up Play: when you start playing a clip, you can immediately turn it into a floating window you can place anywhere on your screen, so you can carry on watching while you browse the web or chat.
It works on any Android 2.2 or up phone, supports a variety of video formats as well as YouTube clips, and best of all, it doesn’t need a quad-core to run: we’ve found it runs just fine on single-core Android phones. Really though, it comes into its own on a tablet-sized screen.
The app was developed by Cerrato Renaud, a French RFID (Radio-frequency identification) engineer from Aix en Provence near Marseilles. He’s dabbled in Android developing over the last year, releasing several apps on the Google Play store, including Video Catcher – an app for ripping internet videos – and Got Ya! Face Trap!, which silently takes pictures with your phone’s front camera in case of theft.

Samsung SPH-L300 leaked, headed to Sprint?
May 12th
Samsung Galaxy S III was launched a few days ago and we know that it will be coming to the States soon, and they are chances that Sprint will be carrying it, but that’s not the only device Sprint is planning to launch. Sprint is also planning to launch Samsung SPH-L300, which is an Android 4.0 powered device featuring the same dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. BriefMobile leaked the shot of the SPH-L300 and the device looks pretty decent. It will be featuring Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, measuring 121 x 63 x 12 mm, and a WVGA display with unknown size (probably around 4-inch), 5MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0.
However, we don’t know when Sprint will officially launch this, but we hope to see it soon. Are you planning to grab the SIII or you will end up buying this little monster? Tell us in the comment box below.

Reasoning Behind Samsung Galaxy S III Using Pentile Super AMOLED
May 11th
A good number of tech readers and bloggers are down on the pentile display, with macro photography to highlight the differences. So why did Samsung opt for yet another pentile display, despite some level of public outcry? According to Samsung it has to do with the life of the pentile display, which will have a greater lifespan simply by removing the blue sub-pixels. Apparently, those degrade faster then their blue and red siblings.
Samsung Galaxy S III
Samsung’s goal here is to keep their phones and displays going strong for a minimum of 18 months. By using a Pentile display, that goal will be achieved. The gaps have been shrunk and Engadget’s microscope test didn’t reveal much of a difference between the S III and the Galaxy Nexus.
