Google Wallet Now Available On Nexus S And Galaxy Nexus for AT&T – Verizon Galaxy Nexus Also Makes The Cut
Feb 2nd

Sprint Nexus S 4G users no longer have a reason to gloat after Google Wallet — once exclusive to that device and carrier — has finally been made available for those on AT&T. The app can be installed on either the Nexus S 4G or GSM Galaxy Nexus without Ralph de la Vega or his cronies standing in your way. Just jump into your Market app or use the link below to be taken straight to Google Wallet.

Now, I know we have many a reader who is wondering if perhaps the Verizon Galaxy Nexus was included in this celebration. Well, kinda — things are a little more tricky but it can be done. A workaround has been discovered allowing for LTE equipped G-Nex’s to install Wallet all on a completely stock device. No root. No funny business. Just a bit of trickery. Directions below.
1. From your phone open the browser and head to http://market.android.com.
2. Search for "Google Wallet."*If your browser prompts you to open the Market, don’t. Just stay in the browser.
3. When the results come back, tap on the Google Wallet icon.
4. Tap the "Install" button from within the browser and then sign into your Google account.*Again, this is all from the browser, not the Market app.
5. Once you have signed in, you should be redirected back to the Market page in the browser.
6. Obviously, you will not have the option to install there since the VZW Nexus is not supported.
7. Tap the back button until you are prompted for the Market or Browser again, this time choosing the Market.
8. The Android Market should open to the Google Wallet page with an option to install.
Anyone excited to finally try out Google Wallet for yourself? Maybe you already have a list of retailers and Quick-E-Marts in your area that are NFC/Google Wallet ready?

Samsung Galaxy S III Launching In April?
Feb 2nd
Now that Samsung has come out and say that the Galaxy S III won’t appear at Mobile World Congress, that opens up speculation and rumor regarding the actual release date. According to industry insider Eldar Murtazin, the Samsung Galaxy S III will launch in April. Mobile World Congress takes place February 27th through March 1st, so that would mean Samsung was pushing the newest Galaxy out just one month. Also, an announcement doesn’t necessarily mean a release date. As we’ve seen with the Galaxy S II, you can expect carrier release dates throughout the year, so don’t be surprised if we see more of the same with the Galaxy S III.
As for specification, this new Galaxy S III will feature TouchWhiz on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Expectations are that it will include a quad-core Exynos processor, Super AMOLED Plus 720p display, 4G LTE support, and 2GB of RAM. Murtazin reportedly has a good track record, but with any rumors of this sort, we suggest a few grains of salt.

Samsung to launch Samsung Galaxy S II Plus?
Feb 2nd
Mock-up
Earlier today, Samsung confirmed that they dont have plans to launch a Galaxy S III, which is a bit disappointing because all of us were expecting it. Samsung is still focused on MWC, and they are preparing to introduce new devices at the event. One of those devices could be the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus.
We don’t know much about this device, other than it showed up in An3DBenchXL’s benchmark database, and it’s packing Android 2.3.4, a WVGA display, and a 1.5 GHz CPU. The Galaxy S II features a 1.2 GHz processor, whereas the Sprint Galaxy Nexus comes with a 1.5 GHz CPU, so we’re expecting the GSII Plus’s processor to be the same.
We are not sure about the processor manufacturer, but I believe that it will feature Samsung’s own Exynos processor. Furthermore, this device could be Samsung’s customizedversion of the Galaxy Nexus, featuring TouchWiz UI running on top of Android 4.0, which Google didn’t allow with their pure experience device, the Galaxy Nexus.
Hopefully if the device is real, we will see it MWC later this month. Anyone looking forward to it? What else could Samsung have planned for us in Barcelona? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below!

Official: No Samsung Galaxy S III at MWC
Feb 1st
We had heard a rumor previously that the Samsung Galaxy S III would not debut at Mobile World Congress and now we’ve got official confirmation from Samsung. The company in a statement to TechRadar indicated that while the Galaxy S III is coming later this year, the company would host an event closer to launch.

“Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012.
“The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.
“Samsung stays committed to providing the best possible mobile experiences for customers around the world.”
This makes perfect sense to us and honestly it’s not very surprising. Companies are looking more to specific company hosted events to keep the spotlight on their product. Announcing big devices at CES or MWC might be a thing of the past. What company wants to share the news cycle with thousands of products and dozens of phones?

Samsung brings us more to love, offers Galaxy Note engraving in South Korea
Jan 30th

Sure, you can draw whatever the heck you want on the front of your Galaxy Note, but what about that blank blue or white canvas ’round back? With north of a million 5.3-inch pocketable slates in circulation around the world, you’ll need to get a bit more creative to truly make it yours — and Samsung is willing to help. If a trip to South Korea is on the books between now and March 31st, you can now deck out your Note with custom messaging on the back, with the company letting customers “engrave wished letters on the backside of their own device with laser beams.” And we can all agree that laser beams boost the appeal of any device — even the Note. So what would you tattoo on your Note’s backside? We’ll share a few staff picks just below, but let us know your plans in the comments.
- “Large is just a matter of perspective”
- “Yes, I can make phone calls”
- “It’s not a STYLUS”
- “Size DOES matter”
- “More to Love”
- “Wide Load”
