Samsung will release Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia despite Apple complaint

Samsung has put out a distinctly unafraid-looking statement declaring that a “Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the Australian market will be released in the near future,” despite Apple’s attempt to halt sales through the Aussie Federal Court. It explains that Apple’s underlying patent complaints only relate to the US variant of the tablet, which Samsung had no plans to sell Down Under anyway. In a particularly emboldened finale, the missive adds that “Samsung will continue to actively defend and protect our intellectual property.”

Android Overload: Australia Receives Moto Xoom and Atrix, Samsung Gives Away Fascinates and More

Hola, mis amigos! Today, we have an extra spicy Cinco de Mayo edition of Android Overload and it’s muy caliente! With all the stuff going in the world of Android, we at Phandroid want to make sure we leave no man behind when it comes to the news. So in between writing up the stories that made their way to our front page, I also managed to dig up some other interesting links for you to sink your teeth into. Motorola XOOM Heading to Australia on Telstra in May

Telstra and Motorola have announced their partnership in bringing the coveted XOOM Android tablet to Australia next month.
The XOOM features:
- Android 3.0
- 10.1in Display
- Tegra 2 Dual-Core 1GHz CPU
- 1080p playback, 720p capture
- 32GB onboard storage

Motorola XOOM Features – a new mobile experience
Motorola XOOM delivers exceptionally fast performance with its 1GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The tablet showcases the innovations of the Honeycomb user experience – including an interactive, customizable homescreen with moveable widgets, notifications and tabbed browsing – on a 10.1-inch 1280×800 widescreen HD display, enabling video content that’s richer and clearer than ever before. Support for HDMI enables viewing of videos and movies on larger screens, such as HD televisions. A 5MP rear-facing camera captures HD video, and a 2MP front-facing camera enables clear video chats using Google Talk™.
The latest Google Mobile services include Google Maps™ 5.0 with 3D interaction and access to over 150,000 apps from Android Market™. Motorola XOOM also supports a beta version of Adobe® Flash® Player 10.2 downloadable from Android Market, enabling the delivery of rich Flash-based Web content including videos, casual games and rich Internet applications.
Motorola XOOM also features a built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting. The tablet supports up to 10 hours of video playback and charges quickly in just 3.5 hours.
